Jeff Cates of the Leaf -Chronicle pitched one-hit ball as his team edged out Hilldale Kiwanis, 2-1, and Rex Miller and Guy Bass of Sheriff's Patrol gave up only two hits during a 3-2 victory over Brake's Market.

Cates struck out seven and walked four in his game which was scoreless until the top of the fifth when the Kiwanis squad pushed across an unearned run. Phil Smith had a double and Ernie Jackson had two singles for Leaf-Chronicle the only hits the winners were able to garner off losing pitcher Cary Black. Miller started for Sheriff's Patrol but was relieved by Bass, who wound up as the American's Enjoy 26-3 That was some time the American Little League Orioles enjoyed Saturday. The final score of their game against the Tigers at Dick Holt Field was 26-3 as the Orioles "combined a 14-hit attack with 12 errors by their rivals to rack up one of the most lop-sided scores of the season. Danny Morrison, who did need all those runs as he pitched two-hit ball, and Roy McCellen each had a double and a single.
