IL Burgess, New Providence, Tenn. Capt Burgess purchased a herd of fine Shorthorns last summer, and headed them with a Bplendid' Rose Mary bull. His farm is located some five miles west of New Providence, Tenn. He also raises fine hogs, but as to the breed we are not informed. Capt B.

is a genial, affable gentleman, zealous in the pursuit of his business, and while engaged in the milling business, being the proprietor of a large flouring and custom mill, has a decided turn for fine stock and cattle. Dk. Henry Deane, Clarksville, Tens. Four miles from Clarksville, on the Hopkinsyille turnpike, is situated the residence of this gentleman, which is surrounded by fine land, upon which may be found the largest herd of Jerseys in the county. Dr.

Drane arid his father-in-law, Dr. E. R. W. Thomas, have lately made extensive purchases of A.

J. C. Jerseys, and will probably become the largest breeders of these butter-producing animals in the south. Both are men of high moral worth, and the patronage which they may invite in the future, can deal with them, relying upon their representations in every particular. Edward Drane, Clarksville, Tenn.

Mr. Drane's farm is situated immediately west of the farm of his brother, Dr. Henry Drane. He is an extensive breeder of registered Berkshire hogs and has the largest number of breeding sows of any one in the county. His hogs are of the very best strains, arif he has neither spared time nor money in buying the best hogs that could be procured in this country and England.

We understand that he also has fine poultry, and recently made a purchase of Holstein cows from the herd of Smith Powell, of New York, tend will become a breeder of this kind of cattle.
