Police on Tuesday responded to a Jack Miller Boulevard apartment to check into claims that animals had been abandoned there, according to a report by CPD Officer Matt Penna. When the officer arrived, he saw two dogs living on a patio with no food or water, eating their own excrement, Penna wrote. The dogs' skeletons were visible through their skin, he wrote. 'A cat inside the home appeared healthy, although its excrement could be found throughout the home, he wrote.

Animal Control was called to the scene, and they took the animals into custody. The resident of the home arrived later and told the officer the dogs were sick and wouldn't eat, but they hadn't been taken to the vet, Penna wrote. But, when food was brought to them, they ate it. The woman was cited with three counts of animal cruelty. Burglary suspect runs out of gas 2.
