A 49-year-old Batts Lane man reported that an $800 diamond and gold nugget ring was taken by four robbers Tuesday asking for a cigarette. The man told Officer Anthony Rosario that he was driving at Eighth Street and Farris Road when four people flagged him down. They asked the man for a cigarette, then pulled him out of the car and took the ring from his front pocket, Rosario said in his report. No weapons were reported, and the man was not able to describe the suspects, Rosario said.

Car burglarized in restaurant lot 2. A 36-year-old Peachers Mill woman reported her car was broken into Monday in the parking lot of Long John Silver's restaurant on Wilma Rudolph Boulevard. The woman told Officer Sean Averitt that someone broke the passenger side window of her 1999 Mitsubishi Mirage and took a Pioneer CD player, black leather purse, gold bracelet, ID and credit cards.
