Peterson, age 78 of Clarksville, died Friday, October 5, 2012 at his home.

He was born January 9, 1934 to Peter and Lillian Peterson. Mr. Peterson was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister. Mr. Peterson was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

After military retirement of serving 21 years in the U.S. Army and a Vietnam Veteran where he received the Purple Heart, Mr. Peterson spent 20 years with Trane Co. as a press operator. Virgil Peterson is survived by his wife, Joyce of the home; two daughters, Rita Welch and Tandy Pfei-ff; three sons, Randy Peterson, Gary (Mary) Peterson and Ricky (Shelia) Peterson; 14 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at the Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Hubert Cunningham officiating.
